What are photochromic glasses?
The photochromic lenses have as their main feature that they darken when UV rays directly hit them, lightening again when the brightness ceases. Therefore, the photochromic sports glasses are optimal for playing both on indoor paddle courts (with the lenses remaining transparent at all times) and outdoor courts, where the photochromic lenses will darken quickly.
Differences between photochromic and polarized glasses
The lenses of polarized glasses always remain dark and filter UV light and light reflections on horizontal surfaces, unlike photochromic lenses which do not filter in the same way.
Photochromic lenses, on the other hand, absorb radiation in a very practical way to prevent discomfort to the human eye, filter UV light, and darken depending on the ultraviolet light they are exposed to.
Benefits of photochromic lenses
Photochromic lenses absorb solar radiation and optimally adapt to the visibility of the environment depending on the level of light or darkness. Their high adaptability prevents eye discomfort when there is a lot of light and provides maximum sharpness and clarity in dark environments. This can only be achieved with photochromic lenses.
It should be noted that in padel there are many different actions and situations during the match: bending down for a wall return, jumping to serve the ball x3... just as weather conditions can change throughout the day, sun reflections that blind during the hit, cloudy sky... the eye has to adapt and get used to these changing situations automatically, with the stress this entails in terms of fatigue, something that can be avoided with photochromic lenses that adapt and help the eyes in changes of light.
